One of the major prizes for participating in Into the Light activities and gaining favor with iconicDestinyalum Lord Shaxx is the Superblack shader, a desirable all-black color shader that gives players a look as dark as a living shadow. A pair of creative players who go by Bluejay_leather and revadike put Superblack to work in short order, using the shader to create custom armor arrangements that resemble none other than the Taken, one of the most dangerous and iconicDestinyenemy factions.

Destiny 2 Taken Custom Armor Uses the Superblack Shader

Posted on the DestinyFashion Reddit community, Bluejay_leather and revadike’s custom costumes proposed Taken-themed looks for the Titan and the Hunter, respectively. Revadike’s Taken Hunter used Superblack on the Hunter’s Cloak and Mask, but the telltale Taken effect of deep black shot through with bright white light rays was achieved by mixing in white-dominant shaders like Amethyst Veil and Precursor Vex Chrome. Commenters highlighted revadike’s use of theAphotic Lamellar cloak from theDestiny 2Season of the Deepand Holdfast mask to emulate the Taken’s signature “flashlight face” look.

Bluejay_leather’s Titan is inspired by the Taken Thrall enemy, and takes advantage of the fact that Titans have several armor items that incorporate visual effects directly based on the Taken. The Heart of Inmost Light,a popular exotic Titan chest piece, emits Taken radiation when equipped with the Abyss, Inverted armor ornament. Bluejay_leather combined the chest piece with the Heartrend gauntlets, Gensym Knight Helm, and the War Numen’s Boots and Mark from the remastered King’s Fall raid to create a Titan that gives off true Taken Thrall energy.

Players were impressed by both works, praising both Bluejay_leather and revadike in the comments. Bluejay_leather’s effort earned kudos from one commenter for its use of a “battle-ready” exotic armor piece like the Heart of Inmost Light, which will allow players to employ the full ensemble in any activity without worrying about compromising their combat effectiveness.
