Fans ofDestiny 2are gearing up for the beginning of an all-new season on May 22, and Bungie has already confirmed that one of the previously sunsetted locations will be featured as part of it. Amid all the hype, however, the community has called upon players to temper their expectations based on Bungie’s previous output in this regard.

Notably, thoughDestiny 2is no longer actively sunsetting content, Bungie hasn’t been quite so keen on letting players fully revisit locations that are no longer available in the game. In most cases, previously sunset areas return in a limited fashion instead of letting players roam in full-fledged patrol zones as veterans might remember them.

Though manyDestiny 2fans are excited about the imminent return of the moon of Titan, Reddit user JLoco11PSN has posted that it may be important to wait and see how the location is actually handled. As JLoco11PSN explains, Bungie has only been releasing substantially scaled-back versions of sunsetted patrol zones and levels in the past. A prominent example is last year’s return of the Leviathan vessel, which played host to a wide variety of content, only to end up being removed from the game with the release ofLightfallbecause it was part of the game’s transient seasonal content. Something similar may happen with Titan, too, JLoco11PSN has warned.

The community has agreed that the best-case scenario for content longevity is if Bungie reveals that the Season of the Deep features a Titan dungeon alongside the usual batch of temporary seasonal content. Something along the lines ofDestiny 2’s Spire of the Watcher, for example, would stick around indefinitely and allow players to experience the Titan arcology as they once could, even if only in a limited fashion.

Bungie has hinted at thepresence of an underwater location inDestiny 2come Season of the Deep, and it may well turn out that this is an endgame-level Dungeon. As it currently stands, however, there’s no way to know because, even though the developer has shared more information about Season 21 than it usually does, most of its content is still shrouded in a veil of mystery.

Season of the Deep is bound to be quite an exciting time forDestinyfans, and not everything about it is necessarily a net positive. For example,Destiny 2may get borderline pay-to-winfeatures very soon, and it remains to be seen how Bungie’s new gameplay loop additions will affect the game’s meta-progression systems.

Destiny 2is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
