Following its release last week, developers of theDead Spaceremake have officially confirmed that the studio will be fixing the game’s graphical issues.Dead Spacerecently saw renewed life among fanswhen the remake gave the popular franchise a much-needed updated look and feel. The 2023 version of the horror title came as a welcome addition to this year’s slate of games. TheDead Spaceremake shipped with some notable differences from the original, including giving a voice to Isaac Clarke, the game’s protagonist. Fans have already praised EA Motive’s work, particularly over some of the fine details like theenhanced detailing on Isaac’s suitand how the protagonist interacts in certain situations. However, that’s not to say the remake isn’t without its share of problems.RELATED:Awesome Dead Space Remake Detail Shows How Smart Isaac IsRecently, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman pointed out one of the game’s issues with how it handles variable rate shading (VRS) on both the PS5 and PC. According to John, “VRS causes shadowed regions to basically lose most of their detail,” even though the actual resolution may be higher inDead Space. Now it appears Motive may be patching the issue on both platforms. An official response from the developers on Reddit claimed that the team is working on a toggle to disable VRS on PC as well as its graphical issue on the PS5. Though the studio is yet to specify an ETA for the updates.

Of course, VRS isn’t the only issue technical issue. One benchmark test indicates that EA Motive’s remake struggles to hit 60fps even with a new Nvidia RTX 4090 and that comparatively,The Callisto Protocolruns smoother than the newDead Space. Though it should be noted that the tester also acknowledged the game does run better after the intro sequence. Either way, general reception from fans suggests that this may not be a widespread issue for many gamers.

It remains to be seen how EA Motive will move on with theDead Spacefranchise, and it wouldn’t be too far off to assume that another remake is in the works. In fact, some of the post-game dialogue points to apossibleDead Space 2remake. While an announcement is yet to be officially made, Motive could likely begin development soon. Should that happen, theDead Space 2remake could come with a quicker turnaround time considering a notable part of the asset development work is already been done, and the original remake was hit with numerous delays throughout its development cycle.

Dead Spaceis available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
