Summary

Dead by Daylightmissed an excellent opportunity to grab one major IP, but hope for its inclusion may not have died out yet. The degree to whichDead by Daylighthas managed to expand itself with so many famous horror IPs is impressive, to say the least. The recent addition of Ripley and the Xenomorph fromAlienshows that the game isn’t slowing down at all in that department. Even so, there’s one instance where the game failed to strike while the iron was hot for one property. However, there’s still hope to grab it again in the future.

It’s safe to say thatDead by Daylight’s many crossoversare a major draw for the game, especially for horror fans. From classic slashers like Michael Myers to modern icons like Albert Wesker,Dead by Daylighthas established itself as one of the premier horror games on the market. Of course, the game doesn’t rely solely on its crossovers, with a selection is frightening killers of the developers' own creation making up the majority of the roster. The game has managed to thrive in the notoriously difficult asymmetrical horror genre and keeps expanding every year. At this point,Dead by Daylightis a horror IP powerhouse.

In one of 2023’s success stories,Dead Space’s recent remakebrought the series back to prominence after a decade of dormancy. The return of Isaac Clarke and his fight against the Necromorphs made a few differences when compared to the original, but still managed to keep its terrifying atmosphere intact. After the game’s warm reception, anticipation for the next game in the series to be remade is high. The return ofDead Spacealso stirs the idea of how the series could cross over intoDead by Daylight. While it would be an excellent addition, its best time to debut may have passed.

There’s little reason for one to doubt thatDead Spacecrossing over intoDead by Daylightwould be an excellent opportunity. Isaac’s ever-present suit and helmet would give him a unique niche among survivors, and virtually any Necromorph could make for a terrifying killer. However, the best time for aDead Spacecrossover to happen would have been near the remake’s release. At that time, the hype forDead Spacewould have been at a high, and the timing would have been optimal for both games. WhileDead Spaceis still popular, announcing a crossover now would not have the same impact.

The time isn’t up forDead Spaceto joinDead by Daylight, though. As long asDead Space 2gets the remake it deserves, that will open up another window where the series will have plenty of attention. As a result, it would be another opportunity for an announced collaboration withDead by Daylightto have the greatest effect possible. The introduction of RIdley, Xenomorph, Gabriel, and Singularity has already shown that sci-fi horror has a place inDead by Daylight, so there are no worries there. If theDead Spaceseries continues, there will be little reason for it not to eventually find itself inDead by Daylight.

The return ofDead Spaceis great for the horror genre, andDead by Daylightcan benefit greatly from it.Dead Spaceis anobvious crossover option forDead by Daylight, bringing not only a popular horror IP but an effectively scary and exciting one to boot. Isaac and the Necromorphs may have gone a long time without appearing in any games, but both would be a perfect fit intoDead by Daylight’s realms. Even thoughDead by Daylightmissed an amazing opportunity to addDead Space, another chance could come up not too long from now.

Dead by Daylightis available now for mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
