The cases inDanganronpaare pretty riveting, but end up feeling like a punch to the gut every time a student meets their untimely demise. While these deaths are quite tragic, they’re also pretty spectacular in their own right. Keeping this in mind, here are some of themost memorable and eye-catching executions inDanganronpa.
10The 1,000 Blows — Leon Kuwata (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc)
The first execution thatplayers witness inDanganronpasets the stage for what’s to come. After convincing Leon, Monokuma whisks him off to an execution that most fans would see for the first time.
Watching Leon get pummeled with baseballs until he’s lost his life is a jarring sight. This execution makes it clear to the player thatDanganronpais a brutal game that takes no prisoners at all.

9Der Flohwalzer — Kaede Akamatsu & Monokid (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony)
The first case inDanganronpa V3is easily one of the most hard-hitting and emotional in the franchise. Things reach a head when players realize that the person who perpetrated the crime was Kaede herself.
This was the first time that the player found out that the character they controlled was the murderer all along. It’s a brilliant twist that made it clear to players thatDanganronpa V3was in a class of its own.
8After School Lesson — Makoto Naegi (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc)
To call this moment an execution would be a stretch. However, this event inDanganronpais memorable since it’s the first example of a victim actually managing to avoid their execution.

Makoto’s escapemarks a major turning point in the game where the truth would finally be uncovered. Given the major twists inDanganronpa, this failed execution is undoubtedly a pivotal moment.
7One Woman Army — Peko Pekoyama (Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair)
Pekoyama is one of the most dignified and classy individuals inDanganronpa 2. This is precisely what makes her execution all that harder to witness.
Not only is she controlled like a puppet by Monokuma, but Pekoyama also ends up slashing Fuyuhiko by mistake during the execution. This prompts her to drop her blade and protect Fuyuhiko while the robots around her stab her relentlessly with their blades.
6Strand Of Agony — Kirumi Tojo & Monosuke (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony)
Kirumi’s death inDanganronpa V3is easily one of the most eventful and brutal deaths in the entire series. After trying to escape the execution, Kirumi finds herself climbing a vine of thorns coupled with some fatal traps of their own.
The climb leads to Kirumi being cut in a variety of places. However, she believes that everything is worth it just to escape, only for the thorned vine to end at a picture before snapping and sending Kirumi falling to her doom, right on top of Monosuke.
5The Burning Of The Versailles Witch — Celestia Ludenberg (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc)
Celestia is a spoilt brat who views the entire world through a privileged lens. Even before her death, she was fond of the idea that she would be burnt at the stake in what felt like a poetic demise.
However, Monokuma threw a wrench in her plans by sending a firetruck crashing towards her burning visage. It’s a jarring moment that showed just how adamant the despicable teddy bear was when it came to instilling everyone with a sense of despair right up until the very end.
4Please Insert Coin — Chiaki Nanami & Monomi (Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair)
Chiaki is one of the best characters inDanganronpa 2. This is precisely what makes her death so difficult to stomach.
In a rare instance at the time, Chiaki’s execution was paired off with that of Monomi as well. Watching these people try and avoid a bunch of video game hazards before falling prey to the exploding blocks of Tetris makes foran execution that is equal parts saddening and creative.
3Chiaki’s Failed Escape — Chiaki Nanami (Danganronpa 3: The End Of Hope’s Peak High School)
Speaking of Chiaki, one can’t fail to mention the manner ofher demise in theDanganronpaanimeas well. After being caught by Junko in a torture chamber, Chiaki braves the dangers of the place and tries to escape, only to be impaled by a bunch of spikes at the very end.

2Blast Off! Second Ignition — Kaito Momota (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony)
Kaito is one of thebest characters inDanganronpa V3by a country mile. He might be a headstrong character, but his honest persona made him one of the better characters in the game by a country mile.
Kaito gets afflicted by a fatal illness that limits his time in the game. So, when he’s strapped to the rocket for his execution, Kaito finally succumbs to the effects of this illness and dies with a smile on his face, frustrating Monokuma to no end.
1Poisoning — Kyoko Kirigiri (Danganronpa 3: The End Of Hope’s Peak High School)
TheDanganronpaanime features what was dubbed to be the final killing game. This event had its fair share of unique rules, including a poison that would be afflicted if the participant ended up breaking a rule.
Kyoko ends up succumbing to this poison later down the line since she was never supposed to stay alive with Makoto by the fourth round. Thankfully, an antidote brings her back to life by the end of the series.
