A Reddit user who goes by NarooHS posted two separate times to theElden Ringsubreddit to showcase their discovery. One post is a series of photos while the other post is a video demonstrating the statue’s movement. Although the statue does indeed give the appearance of moving, some comments on the post reveal that the statue is not moving but is actually the product of developers lowering the detail of the statue once a player has traveled a certain distance away from the object. Unfortunately, this is notanother hiddenElden Ringdetail, but it’s still a very interesting look into what developers do in order to save frame rate.

The further a player gets away from the statue, the less detail it has, and in this case it gives the statue the appearance of moving its head due to the transition of lessening the object’s polygons. One commenter on the video NarooHS posted states that something similar can be noticed when exploring the Forge of Giants. WithElden Ringhaving a reputation for hiding secretsit’s no surprise why NarooHS thought that they had discovered something new.
