Phantom Liberty, a major story expansion forCyberpunk 2077was finally revealed yesterday in a livestream hosted by CD Projekt Red, where the developer gave out plenty of details about the future of its dystopian RPG.Cyberpunk 2077fans were aware that an expansion was comingto the game, but the reveal dates of that DLC kept getting pushed back, alongside the launch period.

As shown off in the teaser trailer for Phantom Liberty, theCyberpunk 2077expansion is set for a release date some time in 2023. It will feature a story taking place before the end ofCyberpunk 2077’smain narrative, with V making some sort of deal with a mysterious figure. Not much else is known about what the expansion will look like, but with a vague 2023 release date, there is plenty of time to learn about what new content will be coming toCyberpunk 2077.

However, it seems that CD Projekt Red isn’t planning any other expansions followingPhantom Liberty, though. As spotted in the YouTube comments of the DLC teaser, theCyberpunk 2077channel responded to a fan stating they hoped to see more expansions in the future by commenting “as for the future, Phantom Liberty is the only planned expansion forCyberpunk 2077.” This suggests that CD Projekt Red may be planning Phantom Liberty as the first and last expansion forCyberpunk 2077, meaning that there won’t be any more big content updates in the future.

This news will likely disappoint many, especially those who played through theHearts of StoneandBlood and Wineexpansionsof CD Projekt Red’s previous title,The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This may have led fans to believe thatCyberpunk 2077would follow a similar DLC pattern, but it appears CD Projekt Red may have other ideas. This does not necessarily confirm thatCyberpunk 2077will only get the one expansion, as plans could change in the future. What it does mean, though, is that players won’t be getting another big DLC for some time afterPhantom Libertylaunches.

Apart from Phantom Liberty’s confirmation, CD Projekt Red revealed a bunch of other content dropping forCyberpunk 2077in version 1.6, its most recent update. There will be tie-ins toCyberpunk: Edgerunners, including the protagonist of the series David Martinez being a playable character. Also, a transmog system is finally being added, allowing players to walk around Night City in style without sacrificing stats.

Cyberpunk 2077is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Phantom Liberty is set to release in 2023.
