With the official announcement forCall of Duty: Warzonefinally being revealed through ahigh-octane trailer for the battle royale, details have emerged for the new game including exact release times and file sizes for the downloads. Fans don’t have to wait much longer, as the battle royale will be released on June 06, 2025 for everyone.
Call of Duty: Warzonewill be playable in two separate ways, both for free. Players who ownCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be able to get the mode as a free update. And,Warzonewill also be a free separate game and download outside of 2019’sModern Warfare. Because of this, there are slight differences to when the player base will be able to jump into the fight, and how large the downloads will be.

For those who already ownModern Warfare,Warzonewill be playable at 8am PDT. The download size (an update within the game) will be between 15GB and 22GB, depending on the platform.
For those who do not ownModern Warfareand will be downloadingCall of Duty: Warzoneas a game, it will be made available at 12pm PDT. The download size will be between 80 GB and 100 GB, again depending on the platform. Part of the reason for the large download could be because themap is one of the largest in any battle royale experience.
Fans who ownModern Warfarewill be able to see the count the seconds untilWarzonereleases, as theclassified section has been replaced with a countdownfor the launch of the battle royale. Many anticipated thatModern Warfareowners would have some sort of beta access to the mode, meaning they would perhaps be able to play the game for up to a week before the completely free-to-play version was released. But alas, a four hour advantage is all that is taking place.
In the past, some leaks were pointing to the possibility ofWarzonereleasing at an earlier date. And even though the exact dates didn’t hold true, other factors seem to remain accurate such as influencers being flown out to events to test the game and give feedback.
Meanwhile, theMarch 10, 2020 date was correctly predictedback in mid-February. This seems impressive, but also the battle royale itself was leaked back in the summer of 2019, so the game in general has been floating around for a very long time.
Fans have been speculating for months about the battle royale, and many things have been leaked. In some ways, it seemed as ifWarzonewas the worst-kept secret in gaming. Now that the mode has officially been revealed, and the embargo has been lifted, fans will be able to sift through the information to find out what is legitimately in the game, and when it is released on the 10th, explore the world for themselves.
Call of Duty: Warzonelaunches on March 10 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
