Fans ofCall of Duty: Warzonecan finally hop back into the Caldera map in the rebrandedCall of Duty: Warzone Caldera, but there are a slew of missing features. With over25 million players inCall of Duty: Warzone 2just weeks after the battle royale sequel’s release, there are definitely options for fans of the franchise.
Call of Duty: Warzoneentered the crowded battle royale market in 2020 to the surprise of many gamers who felt the genre was already oversaturated. BlendingCall of Duty’s classic multiplayer gunplay with battle royale gameplay on 150-player maps proved to be a success, with the real-world setting helpingCall of Duty: Warzonedistinguish itself from genre heavyweights likeFortniteandApex Legends. As the sequel to the free-to-play shooter continues to break player population records just weeks after its release, multiple serious bugs and gameplayglitches inCall of Duty:Warzone 2may have many gamers itching to revisit the original title.

After being switched off on November 16 for the launch ofWarzone 2, the servers for the newly rebrandedCall of Duty: Warzone Calderaare once again ready to welcome players. However, gamers who preferred the small-scale combat of Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will notice some of these changes immediately, as both maps have been removed inWarzone Caldera.
Maps aren’t the only features that have been cut from this pared-down version ofCall of Duty: Warzone, either. Players hoping to transfer their hard-won progression and gear toCall of Duty: Warzone 2are out of luck as their progress and items, along with battle pass content and purchases, will only be available inWarzone Caldera. Being unable to transfer gear to the sequel could prove particularly disappointing to in-game sharpshooters who have been underwhelmed by thesniper rifles inCall of Duty: Warzone 2.The in-game store has also been removed fromWarzone Caldera, although players will be able to transfer their COD Points toWarzone 2.
The return of the originalWarzoneand the classic Caldera map at the cost of several significant gameplay features may be a hard pill to swallow for fans of the game. While new features like DMZ mode andproximity chat inCall of Duty: Warzone 2have proven to be a hit with many gamers, for theWarzonefans not yet ready to jump ship to the sequel this revamped release likely feels like they’ve been left out in the cold.
Call of Duty: Warzone Calderais available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
