Just a few hours ago, Activision and Infinity Ward unveiled all of the new content coming inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s season 4 mid-season update, which includes a new map, a new weapon, new modes, and more.
While it wasn’t mentioned in the original press release, one feature of the new update that was confirmed after the fact was the inclusion of new weapon balancing, which more than likely excite people who have stuck with the game for a while. The news was confirmed on Ashton Williams' Twitter account, the senior communications manager at Infinity Ward.

Unfortunately, Williams stopped short of actually confirming any specific weapons that’ll be affected by this balancing update, however, she did confirm that the patch notes for the balancing will be released later tonight. One weapon, however, that is confirmed is theGrau assault rifle. Joe Cecot, the co-design director of multiplayer, confirmed the weapon would be getting balancing during the mid-season update, so unless something has changed between now and a week and a half ago, that should be a part of the balancing.
Unfortunately, that’s the only weapon confirmed for the update itself. That being said, given the current meta, it’s easy to guess which weapons will be hit. Given the fact that these weapons are used in almost every single match, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Fennec SMG and theCR-56 AMAXassault rifle get hit, even though they were just added to the game at the beginning of the month. In addition, it also wouldn’t be surprising if the MP5 got hit, again, because of its prominence in multiplayer matches.
Overall, it’s good to see more weapons get balanced inModern Warfare/Warzone.Too often players will see the same weapons in killcams every single match, so Infinity Ward’s attempt to bring everything in balance is a valiant one. Of course, there will always be problems with weapon damage, recoil, firing rate, etc. (especially with newer weapons) but as long as Infinity Ward keeps being vigilant with it, the developer can keep it in check.
And that’s not even mentioning the Grau nerf, which is has been sorely needed since the start of the game’spost-release content schedule. While that nerf makes more sense inWarzone(as its basically seen in every match), its a welcome change in multiplayer as well.
