Activision has released some sparse details about what to expect from the upcomingModern Warfare 3 Zombiesincluding a massive map and the loss of round-based gameplay. RELATED:What to Expect From Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Zombies Mode
Wish List Item #1: Wonder Weapons
Wonder Weapons are a staple of the Zombies game mode. For players, there’s nothing more exciting than spinning the mystery box and pulling a Ray Gun, Thundergun, or one of the many other Wonder Weapons that have been implemented into various maps throughout the years.
Modern Warfare 3 Zombiesshould absolutely implement at least some of the older classics like the Winter’s Howl or Wunderwaffe while also adding some new ones of its own for players to experiment and blow zombies away with. If nothing else, certain powerful weapons being locked behind easter eggs gives players both extra challenge and objectives in each playthrough, attempting to unlock these mythical tools to help them fight off the zombie hoards for a little longer. TheAncient Bows inBlack Ops 3’s Der Eisendracheare a wonderful example of Wonder Weapons turned into an engaging mystery and challenge that are ultimately optional, but fun for players to explore and unlock.

Wish List Item #2: Modern Warfare-Based Zombie Maps
Treyarch has very rarely adapted multiplayer maps from theBlack Opsseries into Zombies maps, like withBO2’s Nuketown Zombies. Now that the team is working on theModern Warfareseries, it definitely feels like an appropriate time to take at least one classicMWmap and turn it into a horrifying Zombies experience.
The first Zombies mapcoming toModern Warfare 3 Zombiesis supposed to be massive, which could lend itself to having a smaller map, like Terminal or Rust, being implemented within it. It’s not too crazy of an idea considering this is the exact thing that occasionally happens with the massive maps utilized in theWarzonemode. The Al Mazrah map inWarzone 2.0implements old classicMWmaps like Quarry, Dome, and Showdown. Seeing the same thing done in a Zombies setting would be a fantastic crossover of the Treyarch and Infinity WardCoDtitles.

Wish List Item #3: Don’t Stray Too Far From The Formula
Experimentation is great and should be encouraged. It’s going to be very interesting to see what Treyarch has in mind for a Zombies mode with no rounds and a supposedly massive map planned. At the end of the day, though, it should always be remembered what makes Zombies so popular with its fans in the first place. All the failed attempts in the past at doing this mode ingames likeCall of Duty: Advanced WarfareandCall of Duty: Vanguardhave suffered from losing sight of what makes Zombies fun for players.
Thankfully, Treyarch remaining at the reigns of the mode it started is an encouraging sign that this will be kept in mind. Things have changed for the developer recently, especially with thedeparture of longtimeCall of Dutydeveloper David Vonderhaar, but Treyarch should still manage to keep the vision of what makes Zombies special in mind. Hopefully,Modern Wafare 3 Zombieswill innovate while still feeling like the experience gamers have come to know and love.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
