Possibly the most exciting of theCall of Duty2022 leaksso far is one concerning a mode that is reminiscent ofRainbow Six Siege. These new modes look as though they could win over fans of all kinds of shooter games, withCall of Duty2022’sRainbow Sixmode possibly standing to earn the largest fanbase. Call of Duty 2022’s New Mode

A recent rumor coming from Twitter user RalphsValve has claimed thatCall of Duty2022 will have a game mode similar toRainbow Six Siege. This is just a rumor at this point, however, RalphsValve has had leaks corroborated by other leakers in the past. In thisRainbow Six Siege-like game mode, dubbed Attackers v. Defenders, players will be placed into one of two teams, for a more tactical, round-based experience. The attacking team will have an objective to complete, while the defending team will be tasked with stopping the attacking team from completing their objective. This is a format that will be familiar to fans ofRainbow Six Siege.

Attackers v. Defenders will also feel familiar due to the defending team being given gadgets similar to those that can be found inRainbow Six Siege’smultiplayer. Defenders will be allowed to use boobytraps, cameras, and weaponry to halt the attacking team’s progress, including by building fortifications around the objective, or by destroying the in-game environment. LikeSiege,Call of Duty2022’s Attackers v. Defenders will also have a form of operators, however, this is different from inSiege, as players will be voted into occupying these roles. All around, this mode seems much more tactical in nature to what is often offered inCall of Dutygames, which could win overRainbow Sixfans looking for something different.

The New Rainbow Six Siege?

WhileRainbow Six Siegeis still a very popular game in 2022, it is now over seven years old, meaning long-time fans may be looking for something different to occupy their time with. The tactical shooter genre is fairly well stocked with choice for fans of these sorts of games, though it is fairly difficult to find another in the style ofRainbow Six Siege. There are multiplayer games likeOverwatchandValorantthat are fairly popular in their own right, although the difference in setting and tone means they may appeal to a different audience than the averageSiegeplayer.

On the visual side of things, recentCall of Dutygames may bear the closest resemblance toRainbow Six Siege, while the military shooter aspect is another similarity. It’s easy to see how the fanbases ofRainbow Six SiegeandCall of Dutymay overlap despite the difference in gameplay and multiplayer modes. ForRainbow Sixfans who are looking for a different experience from what they’re used to,Call of Duty2022’s Attackers v. Defenders mode could offer just that.Call of Duty2022 will bring to the table new maps, new weapons, and gameplay that will feel fresh toRainbow Six Siegefans. As such,Call of Duty2022 could be the surpriseRainbow Six Siegereplacementthat fans have been waiting for.

Tactical Game Modes in Call of Duty

Attackers v. Defenders sounds like an exciting innovation, but it wouldn’t be the first tactical game mode to have featured intheCall of Dutyseries. Like the upcomingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the originalModern Warfare2019 brought with it a more realistic, tactical feel. As such, an all-new game mode in Gunfight was introduced.

It stands as an indicator ofCall of Dutyfans’ willingness to adopt a more tactical game mode and shows Infinity Ward’s past of offering a more tactical experience.

If there is a game for theCall of Dutyseries to experiment with a more tactical game mode such as Attackers v. Defenders, it may well beCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Given the changes made in the 2019 reboot, fans will not only be expecting further innovation in the next title but will be hoping for it.Modern Warfaredisplayed a clear shift towards a more tacticalCall of Dutygame, which should be further built upon.
