Anyone who played far enough intoThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildto meet him will likely remember the Zora, Prince Sidon. After the release of the game, Sidon became somewhat of a fan favorite for players. Now Sidon’s voice actor, Jamie Mortellarro, is returning the love in an interview.
Given the open nature of the game, Sidon could be one of the first characters or the last characters that players will encounter when playingBreath of the Wild. Located in Eastern Hyrule, players would findZora’s Domain where the aquatic Zoralived. From there, Sidon would be a significant ally to Link in his quest to defeat Calamity Ganon.

Sidon’s voice actor, Mortellarro, was the casting and voice over director forBreath of the Wild. However, when he was asked by Zelda Dungeon if he had also wanted to voice a character within the game, he accepted, saying that he was “happy to voice the role.” While Mortellaro was asked a number of questions in the interview, perhaps one of the most notable was when he was asked what his favorite thing about theZeldacommunity was.
Mortellarro responded that he felt that theZeldacommunity is “so kind and so inspiring” which prompted him to work harder onBreath of the Wildbecause he knew the franchise was beloved by so many different people. He also noted that he is impressed by andloves seeingZeldainspired cosplay, noting that seeing fans with Sidon cosplays is a particular highlight at any conventions that he attends.
Praising their cosplay isn’t the only way that Mortellaro encouragesZeldafans however. Zelda Dungeon also asked him about giveaways that he does on social media. He stated that he primarily does giveaways on Twitter, under his handle @JDMortellaro. His last giveaway was back in May where hegave away a Nintendohat with theZeldalogo on it as well as a triforce shaped lamp. He remarked that he plans on doing more giveaways in the future, so following him on Twitter is a good way to stay connected when that happens.
As for what the role of Sidon itself was like, Mortellaro said that since he was used to being on the directorial side of projects instead of on the acting side, playing Sidon was “very exciting, and [he] loved every second of it.” He also stated that out of all the story arcs inBreath of the Wild,he foundscenes with Zelda were his favorite, but thought that choosing a particular scene as a highlight was difficult as everything in the game “was a thrill.” Montellaro also reprises his role as Sidon inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which released earlier this year.
