Fallout 4has a range of different weapons for players to test and tweak to their exact specifications. Alongside rifles, pistols are the type of weapons that players are going to be coming across the most often as they traverse the nuclear wasteland. They also come from many different sources of the game, including the base game,the Creation Club, and the expansions that were released years after the original came out.
For someFallout 4players, pistols will be an early-game annoyance that can be rectified once other weapon types are found. For others, pistols will be a staple of their loadout throughout the entire game. Whether players are either one of these types or something else in between, knowing the right pistols to go for will make success in combat a much more likely outcome.
6Pipe Gun
Best Of A Weak Bunch
ThePipe Guntakes its place at the bottom of this list but at the top of similar pistol types. Compared to thePipe RevolverorPipe Bolt Action, the pipe gun’s high rate of fire and higher magazine capacity allow a higher output of damage in short bursts. This will be particularly useful early on, as the enemies will be weaker and won’t require incredible aim to defeat.
A silenced version is sold by Arturo Rodriguez inDiamond City, but this weapon can also be found easily in the wastelands being used by scavengers, settlers, and raiders. It is a decent option early on butwill need phasing outas players progress. Considering its low credit value, it is best used for scrap once surplus to requirements.
510mm Pistol
Pre-Apocalypse
The first gun that players will get their hands on as they seek to escape from Vault 111, the 10mm pistol, is a weapon made prior to nuclear armageddon. It is the pistol of choice for the early game and offers decent damage with very good range and accuracy, which makes it a good substitute for a rifle.
It is hard to miss this weapon as 2 are located in the overseer’s office in Vault 111. If players did miss the weapon here, it can also be found out in the wild. Most notably, in the place the sole survivor used to call home,Sanctuary Hills. It is suggested not to waste too many resourcesmodding this weapon, but installing a long (rather than short) barrel is advised.
4Kellogg’s Pistol

This is a unique weapon that can be found inFallout 4. It deals high damage for those who are accurate and, to help with this, offers very high range and high accuracy. As a unique weapon, it comes with added legendary effects. This weapon has theRelentlesseffect, refilling action points on any critical hit.
to get this weapon, players need to complete the main quest,Reunions, at which point it can looted froma defeated enemyatFort Hagen.
3Wastelander’s Friend
A Pistol That’s More Like An SMG
This pistol relies less on accuracy and precision and more on proper run-and-gun tactics. With a good rate of fire and the highest magazine size out of all the pistols, it can do a lot of damage without players having to reload or be especially accurate. It is worth being accurate, though, as this weapon comes with theCripplinglegendary effect.
This effect inflicts 50% more damage when hitting limbs, allowing for greater targeting of particular body parts. To get this weapon,Fallout 4players should head toBunker Hillwhere it can be bought from theDebmerchant.
2Western Revolver
Very High Damage
This weapon was added toFallout 4in theNuka-Worldexpansion pack. Although not a unique weapon and widely available, the Western Revolver packs a kick that no other pistol can match. With an advanced receiver attached, it deals 105 damage per shot. This is an immense weapon in skilled hands.
Players can find this weapon for free in two places, firstly on the body of Terry Tanaka in the Minecart Coaster at theAmusement Park, or they can receive it as part of theHigh Noon at the Gulch side quest. Players can speak to the Sheriff inDry Rock Gulchto start this off.
1Deliverer
Silent And Deadly
By far and away the best pistol on offer inFallout 4, theDeliverer, allows players to deal high damage and do so quietly with no trade-off. It has a very high fire rate with good damage. This damage can be increased by 12 using a powerful receiver with the only downside being a higher weight. Its built-in suppressor will be a major selling point for many players as well.
Furthermore,the V.A.T.S. Enhanced effectgives the weapon better odds when using V.A.T.S. and a 25% reduction in action point cost. Thankfully, it is also easy to acquire. Players can simply complete the main quest,Tradecraft, to get this as a reward.
