Updated by Kristy Ambrose on July 07, 2025:Larian studios is almost done with their work on BG3, the game that earned a pile of awards and has stayed consistently popular since its release back in 2023. Patch 8 will likely be the last big addition the studio makes to the game, and it adds some new features for Wizards, like the Bladesinger subclass. Other details like new gear and spells have yet to be seen, and since the Wizard is alone among the classes with their emphasis on the Intelligence stat, a few more items would be a welcome boon for the class.

9Hat Of The Sharp Caster

Purchase From Tara In The Devil’s Fee Or Find In Sorcerer’s Sundries

Any character investing in intelligence inBaldur’s Gate 3is a spellcaster in some capacity, which means that items that make spellcasting easier directly benefit them.Hat of the Sharp Casteris a helmet that makes it so that any time a spell attack roll is a critical fail, meaning the dice rolls a 1 or 2, it rerolls the die.

What this means is that spell attack rolls are much more likely to hit and are less reliant on the game of chance compared to other types of attack. It’s like the player has a permanent advantage on these types of rolls with the assurance that they can never fail catastrophically.

8Silver Sword Of The Astral Plane

Rewarded Or Dropped By Kith’rak Voss In The Sewers

Silver Sword of the Astral Planeis useful for a number of different classes, but Githyanki players are the only ones that have access to the Githborn Psionic Resistence ability. This gives the wielder Advantage on Saving Throws for Intelligence, Charisma, and Wisdom, along with making them immune to Psychic damage.

Githborn Psionic Weapon adds 1d6 Psychic damage to every weapon attack, but is also only available to Githyanki. The Soulbreaker ability is the one holdout for other races, and it deals Psychic damage equal to that of whatever their proficiency modifier may be, so it’s not exclusive to the Intelligence modifier. Normally, a Wizard doesn’t wield a Greatsword, but they can still wear it just for the buff or get more weapon abilities through Feats or multiclassing.

7The Pointy Hat

In A Chest In The Circus Of The Last Days Behind Lucretious

Dialogue is an important part ofBaldur’s Gate 3,with many crucial moments involving it. Some classes are naturally better at maneuvering dialogue than others, with wizards not having as much proficiency in it.

The Pointy Hatgrants some fluency in engaging in dialogue, giving a bonus to persuasion checks equal to the user’s intelligence modifier. Given that wizards are one of the main classes that use intelligence, wearing this hat can be a useful choice for certain dialogue-heavy portions of the game.

6Infernal Rapier

Given Via Dialogue For Wyll’s Quest Inside The Mind Flayer Colony

While Intelligence is mostly associated with wizards given they are the main class to use it, other subclasses additionally utilize it. Eldritch Knights and Arcane Trickster Rogue scale with intelligence for their spellcasting.

Wizards are unable to wield theInfernal Rapier, but Eldritch Knights and Arcane Trickster Roguesdo have the proficiency required. As such, this weapon can be useful for those classes given it uses the spellcasting modifier for attack rolls, and since they also scale with intelligence, it can be a worthwhile item.

5Markoheshkir

Inside A Globe of Invulnerability In Ramazith’s Tower

For Intelligence-based classes, and indeed any type of spellcaster, theMarkoheshkiris one of the best legendary weapons in all ofBaldur’s Gate 3. It is a +2 quarterstaff with a unique effect that makes it incredibly strong.

When equipped, Markoheshkir increases the spell save DC and spell attack rolls by +1, allows the wearer to cast a spell of their choice without consuming a spell slot, and gives them the ability to imbue themselves with elemental magic. A character imbued with lightning, for example, will also gain two lightning spells: Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning, as well as a direct boost to their lightning damage and increased resistance to lightning.

Markoheshkir is strongest in the hands of an elemental caster like theEvocation Wizard. This is because of its special ability, Kereska’s Favour, which imbues the caster with an element of their choice: lightning, thunder, poison, fire, cold, or acid.

4Warped Headband Of Intellect

Drops From Lump The Enlightened in the Blighted Village

Ways of increasing any stats are naturally going to be valuable items for players to achieve. TheWarped Headband Of Intellectis not as useful for Wizards due to the class alreadypossessing a high Intelligence score, but this item can be acquired early in the game so it’s still worth it.

The Warped Headband of Intellect can be valuable for any other classes requiring a boost in Intelligence, especially Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster, given they also require other stats for their builds. As Intelligence increases the likelihood of hitting an enemy with a spell, the Warped Headband of Intellect can be a strong early acquisition for these classes.

3Mirror Of Loss

Found Inside The House Of Grief

The first mirror can be found in the Gauntlet of Shar, albeit broken. At the end ofShadowheart’s questline, players visit the House of Grief, where they can interact with the intact version of theReflections Upon the Mirror of Lossto potentially increase any ability by +2.

Locked behind a few dialogue checks, the mirror can increase intelligence by +2, a buff that can be stacked with other ability-boosting items. However, players will have to come adequately prepared, as it can be a little tricky to pass the required dialogue checks.

2Circlet Of Psionic Revenge

Loot From Githyanki Inquisitor Ch’r’ai W’wargaz

Circlet of Psionic Revengeis an item that is more beneficial to Githyanki than other races where Intelligence is concerned, but it helps anyone who wears it when it comes to saving throws. A Githyanki wearing this headpiece gets a bonus to Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws — plus the special buff to saving throws.

Only Githyanki have access to the bonus, but anyone wearing the circlet still gets the improvement to a saving throw. When the character succeeds in a saving throw against an attack, the enemy that caused that saving throw suffers 1d4 of Psychic damage.

1Auntie Ethel’s Hair

Given By Auntie Ethel After Reducing Her Health With Non-Lethal Damage

An item that can increase the ability score of a player by +1 is always going to be important to achieve.Auntie Ethel’s Hairdoes just that, increasing any of the abilities of the player by +1.

Obviously, the +1 boon the hair grants is extremely valuable, but players are able to obtain the item as soon as they step off the nautiloid if they desire.
