Up until this point, there has been little that the public knows about the upcomingBatmanmovie. However, today on Twitter, director Matt Reeves released Camera test footage of his upcoming DC film,The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson.

In the test footage, Pattinson, dressed in the iconic cape and cowl, slowly walks toward the screen, while ominous music plays. The image of Pattinson starts out blurry but focuses as the camera zooms in on the chestbat logo. From there, the view rises slowly until just his shoulders and up are in the camera shot.
Although fans are still left knowing little about the plot, the test footage shows that the tone of the story may be darker than fans have seen on screens in recent year. Unlike Batman’s last appearance on the silver screen,Justice League, this test footage may be indicating that the new movie will be unlike the previous iteration. In addition, some of the actors have hinted at a darker tone. Reeves has gone on record stating that the film will be a noir tale. This darker focus matches many of Reeves’ past works, as the director has worked on films such asCloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of The Apes, andWar for the Planet of the Apes.
Before stepping down as director ofThe Batman, and then later stepping out of the lead role, Ben Affleck had finished a script for the movie. Matt Reeves decided not to use Ben Affleck’s script forThe Batmanback in 2017, and finally finished a new script in September 2019. Although Pattinson is a high-profile actor for the role, many other major celebrities with be joining him in the movie, such as Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffery Wright, Peter Sarsgaard, Colin Farrell, and Andy Serkis. Just a couple weeks ago, Reeves revealed to the public thatThe Batmanhad finally started filming.
