Liam is in a rough state when players first meet him inBaldur’s Gate 3. He’s strapped to a board and being beaten by Torturer Spike. Spike has a Mark of the Absolute, so he’s not exactly easy to just scare off or convince to stop. He ultimately wants the information extracted from Liam and won’t accept failure.
Liam doesn’t appear to even have this information so players that leave him there are allowing him to be punished for an eternity. Those who don’t want to see Liam getting eternally punished have a way to get him out. Thankfully,Baldur’s Gate 3offers multiple ways to get this done.

How To Save Liam
The reason attacking the Goblins is not recommended is because this will likely chain the rest of the Shattered Sanctum. Now some gamers may want to take out all of these Goblins anyhow and that’s understandable. But be sure toget the Mark of the Absoluteand meet/save all the other innocent people here first.
By convincing the mob to leave, players can rescue Liam without any prying eyes. In fact, players can try the Sleight of Hand check more than once since there is nobody immediately threatening Liam and the adventurers.Switch party membersbetween the conversation and Sleight of Hand checks to get the best results.
