Director of Publishing at Larian Studios, Michael Douse, has confirmed on Twitter that Xbox’s physical edition ofBaldur’s Gate 3will contain four discs.Xbox’s physical copy ofBaldur’s Gate 3was previously expected to span across only three discs. However,Baldur’s Gate 3proved to be slightly too big, going over the third disc’s capacity by 500 MB. Faced with the prospect of cutting content from the game to make it fit, a fourth disc was added. Larian Studios is expected to update its item description for Xbox Deluxe Edition ofBaldur’s Gate 3on its website soon.

Douse goes on to say that the addition of a fourth disc will likely see the Xbox Deluxe Edition’s release for theaward-winningBaldur’s Gate 3pushed back from the end of March to the beginning of April. This change won’t affect Deluxe Edition shipments for PC or PS5. The PC version will be shipping first since it doesn’t contain a physical copy of the game, only a CD key and installer.
The success ofBaldur’s Gate 3has led to reports thatLarian Studios may potentially be opening another studioin the near future. Larian Studios lent some validity to the rumors after urging industry professionals affected by layoffs and closures to apply to any position on its website,. As per theBaldur’s Gate 3developers, applications sent in now may be used to fill positions not yet posted, which will become available sometime in the future.
