Although there are a plethora of false rumors and leaks out there, there’s little doubt that the nextAssassin’s Creedtitle will be set in theViking Era. There’s simply too much evidence and high-profile corroborations to suggest such, and while the fan-pushedAssassin’s Creed Ragnarokmay just be a working fan title, it’s fitting for what the game could contain. Everything points toward the modern-day storyline coming to a head, and it’s possible that the game’s past will use Norse themes of the end-times event.
Assassin’s Creedis no stranger to cataclysmic events, andAssassin’s Creed Ragnarokhas everything it needs to live up to the Solar Flare ofAC3. Moreover, though, it has even more than it needs to give a major twist to the “big 3 moment” ofAssassin’s Creed Revelations.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations: Ezio, Altair, and Desmond
Perhaps one of the most iconic moments in theEzio trilogy, if not the entire franchise, takes place at the end ofAssassin’s Creed Revelations. Ezio finally discovers the library of Masyaf to find the remains of Altair hidden away here along with his Apple of Eden, but having come this far in his adventure, Ezio decides to let go. Instead, he retires with Sofia and finally lives the life he wants, a fitting, warm penultimate appearance of Ezio. A short film titledAssassin’s Creed Embersfinally sees him pass on the creed to the next generation, but at this moment, he speaks to future generation.
Upon seeing the Apple of Eden, Ezio addressesDesmond Milesdirectly. Desmond is clearly shocked but eventually appears to Ezio via the Isu projection powers of the Apple, where Ezio says that it’ll be up to Desmond to finish what he himself started. Ezio’s life to this point had been the mechanization of the Brotherhood and Those Who Came Before, and he’s finally passing the torch on, not unlike how Altair passed his knowledge to the brotherhood and Ezio in the game.
This moment is only made more beautiful by the fact that the big three, Ezio, Altair, and Desmond, all exist in this one vacuum of time and space. This is the end of Ezio’s career, Altair’s corpse sits in the corner, and Desmond is receiving the knowledge of both Assassins via the Animus. And while nothing could ever replace this unique moment in theAssassin’s Creedtimeline,Assassin’s Creed Ragnarokhas everything it needs to bring its characters together.
Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok: Jora, Kassandra, and Layla
Obviously, it shouldn’t even attempt to be a 1-to-1 recreation of the moment, butAssassin’s Creed Ragnarok’s characters find themselves in a unique position only found thus far inAssassin’s Creed Revelations. Namely, Layla finds herself in Desmond’s shoes as the modern day protagonist trying to understand her destiny, the Heir of Memories, via diving into the past. This means that she, like Desmond, is viewing the past through a modern lens.
Jora, or whatever the proper name forAssassin’s Creed Ragnarok’s protagonistis, finds themselves in Ezio’s shoes. There’s no living up to this legend in theACuniverse but serves as the conduit for future generations, something that Ezio identifies himself as. Jora doesn’t have the background that Ezio does, but depending on their character development and story, they could serve as a fitting stand-in for another “Big 3 Moment.”
And of course,Alexios/Kassandra(of whom the latter is canon) are actually alive at this point. The true ending ofAssassin’s Creed Odysseyreveals that Kassandra has remained alive through the centuries via the Staff of Hermes, and as such, has lived through every moment of the Assassin’s history. They could’ve remained hidden for the majority of time, but given Kassandra wears a suit, it’s clear that she’s become accustomed to the world around her.
This is all to say that Jora could meet Kassandra at some point inAssassin’s Creed Ragnarok’s story, with the latter perhaps trying to put the former on the right path. By extension, this message could also be directed at Layla, whose clearly walking on a dark path herself. This spells bad news forLayla Hassan’s fate inAssassin’s Creed Ragnarok, but if this Assassin trio came together to stop whatever Ragnarok falls upon them, it’s a moment that would be measured up toAssassin’s Creed Revelations, one that has to be done properly to even have a chance of sealing the deal.
