It seems unfortunate that a discussion onCyberpunk 2077will almost certainly bring up the fact that it had an extremely disastrous launch when it came out at the end of 2020. However, things have improved since then, and with developerCD Projekt Red discounting its games next weekto celebrate 20 years of being in business, there’s an opportunity for others to see what all the fuss has been about. As well as updates, the game is going through additional changes thanks largely to the modding community.

One such change effects the combat. The “Time Dilation Overhaul,” or TDO, mod has been created by user TeslaCoiled alongside a host of other modders, and is a way of making the combat inCyberpunk 2077a more “rewarding experience.” What this add-on does is implement some new features for when players are in the midst of a battle, such as being able to deflect bullets with a katana, or even teleport short distances to really confuse the enemy.

As the name of the mod suggests, it offers up several adjustments toCyberpunk 2077’s time dilation feature, which slows time down during combat. A video uploaded to Nexus Mods shows it in action, with the player performing a number of feats, such as the aforementioned bullet deflecting and teleportation. The ability to slow time is one of the most interesting aspects of the game, especially for those who like to go in guns blazing. The description on the mod page says that this is more than just a new feature, as it seeks to offer up a fix for what the team felt was a “fundamentally broken aspect” of the time dilation function.

There are plenty ofuseful mods out there forCyberpunk 2077. Some of them may offer up bug fixes or cosmetic changes. But then there are others which change the way the game looks and feels, such as a third-person mod, as well as one that adds a metro system to Night City. There’s even one that implements flying cars to the game.

Despite how fans feel about things now, especially after the huge patch that rolled out in February,Cyberpunk 2077’s reputation will still haunt CD Projekt Red. It has caused many fans to look at the studio in a different light, which is a shame given the enormous praise of the likes ofThe Witcher 3. No doubt CDPR will be able to bounce back, and the newWitcherentry now being in development could be a way for the company to redeem itself.

Cyberpunk 2077is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
