Summary
The Witcheris set in a fascinating world, which is filled with mysteries that often have to be solved by the player over the course of each game. However, some of the mysteries introduced don’t get answers, or at least not certain ones, leaving players frustrated with an open-ended puzzle that remains unsolved to this day.
While it is possible for some of the various mysteries that remain unsolved inThe Witcherfranchise to be revisited at a later time in another game, or that there can be answers found to some questions in the TV seriesor the original books, some of the mysteries introduced in the games will likely never be really solved.

6How Did Dandelion Survive Novigrad?
One of the stranger things that occurs inThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntis the sequence where Geralt breakshis old bard friend Dandelion(adapted into Jaskier in the TV show) out when he is set to be executed. This should have left Dandelion desperate to flee Novigrad before the people still wishing to have him executed caught up with him.
Bafflingly, Dandelion instead decides to stay in Novigrad, opening his own cabaret, with his name emblazoned on it. One of the mysteries left hanging, or perhaps more of a mere plot hole in the game, is how Dandelion managed to survive while staying permanently in Novigrad when he was so desperately wanted there so shortly before.

5Why Was Triss So Cruel?
When players actually think about the events of the second and thirdWitchergames, there is something baffling about theway in which Triss and her characterwere handled. In the second game, she gets together with Geralt, there is even the option to get into a relationship with her, and Triss never once makes mention of Geralt’s history which he has forgotten due to amnesia.
While Geralt later remembers all of this and goes on with his romantic entanglement with Yennefer, Triss already knew about all of that. Why did Triss play dumb, or omit so much that she must have known Geralt would both want and need to know if she was ever really his friend? It is crazy to think that Triss is even a friendly character inThe Witcher 3after all that, and yet she is still represented as nothing but friendly. This could be more inconstancy on the part of the game writers, or Triss could be a secretive person, perhaps this will be explored further down the line.

4Geralt’s Wild Hunt Ride
One of the stranger things uncovered over the course ofThe Witcher 3is that Geralt once rode with the Wild Hunt. These mysterious figures are a huge part of the third game, but not much is known about them. To discover Geralt made a deal to save Yennefer and became one of the riders for a time is an astounding revelation.
Related:The Witcher 3: Best Skills And AbilitiesHowever, far stranger than discovering this is the fact that nobody really talks about what happened while Geralt rode with the Hunt. Nor is it really brought up how his tenure alongside them came to an end. This revelation went absolutely nowhereand deserves a much bigger explanation.

3What Happened In Pontar Valley?
One of the major plot points inThe Witcher 2is Pontar Valley, the newly-founded state ruled by Saskia, a dragon disguised as a human. This was a fascinating story and made for a great section of the second game. Unfortunately, the surrounding ideas aren’t abandoned so much as they are brutalized by the swift mention it gets in the third game.
InThe Witcher 3, there is a brief mention that the Nilfgaardians in their current conquest of the Continent have taken the Pontar Valley. There is no mention of what Saskia did to try and defend her new home, or if she even survived the assault.

2The Higher Vampire Problem
Something that’s been left unclear over the course of the third game and its expansions is how higher vampires can be dealt with.Though vampires and their mythosaren’t one of the more major creatures Geralt commonly comes into contact with, he does tackle a number of higher vampires at various points throughout the game.
However, in the Blood and Wine expansion pack, it is stated that a higher vampire can only be killed off by another vampire. This seeming plot hole could be explained later if the new games continue to deal, at least occasionally, with these creatures. Is it possible that the Witcher mutagens confuse these laws, allowing only Witchers to kill the creatures besides other vampires?

1How Did Ciri Destroy The White Frost?
The entire plot behindThe Witcher 3is that Ciri and her elder blood are the only thingsthat can destroy the white frost. While different characters agree upon different methods for the best way of having her do this, everybody seems to agree on the necessity of it happening. Eventually, Ciri does manage to destroy the white frost, but how seems to have remained somewhat sketchy.
Once Ciri goes into the Tower of the Eagle at the conclusion of the game, the white frost dissipates, and the day is saved. The strange thing is that, after all the choices made over the course of the game and the extremely long journey, there is nothing to tell players how the white frost was actually destroyed. In the end, it seems that Ciri simply knew what must be done and did it, perhaps it was too easy or confusing to actually show.
