Rapper 50 Cent has reignited speculation over whether he’s involved with aGrand Theft Autoproject and has mentioned “Vice City” on social media for the second time in two days. While there’s no clear indication that 50 Cent is in any way associated withGrand Theft Auto 6or any other related project, the rapper has found an opportunity to capitalize on fans' excitement, and it is undeniably working. Neither Take-Two nor Rockstar Games have made a comment on 50 Cent or the state ofGrand Theft Autoas of yet.On March 1, 50 Cent made posts to both Twitter and Instagram with an image featuring the “Vice City"Grand Theft Autologo, with the “Grand Theft Auto” part removed. The text of the post was cryptic, saying, “I will Explain this later, GLG,” referring to the Green Light Gang that 50 Cent calls his fans. The post could go on to add, “this **** bigger than POWER trust me.” followed by a bomb emoji and the word “BOOM.“Poweris notably a TV show that 50 Cent produced.RELATED:Take-Two Interactive Says GTA 6 Leaks in 2022 Were ‘Emotional’A follow-up post from 50 Cent has now been made on Twitter and Instagram. It’s once again the “Vice City” logo, but this time photorealistic in neon pink. The post features a television emoji along with the comment, “we working together or are you just ******* around? Big moves only!” There are again mentions of the Green Light Gang, a target emoji, and the message “I don’t miss.” In other words, there’s no clear message regarding what 50 Cent is teasing.
After the first post from 50 Cent,Grand Theft Autofans were quick to leap to assumptions. Some believed50 Cent was teasing a role inGrand Theft Auto 6and that openly mentioning it on Twitter implied an announcement would be coming soon. This follow-up post has had more of a sobering effect, however. NowGrand Theft Autofans are leaning more toward 50 Cent’s tease being unrelated toGrand Theft Auto.
Vice City may be a key location in theGrand Theft Autoseries, therumored setting forGrand Theft Auto 6, and even a subtitle for multiple priorGrand Theft Autoreleases, but it’s not an official Take-Two trademark. 50 Cent would be perfectly within his rights to use Vice City as a brand name for another project. The fact that he’s usingGrand Theft Auto: Vice City’s logo for his teases is certainly eyebrow-raising, but it isn’t evidence of aGrand Theft Autopartnership on his own.
The message to take away is that 50 Cent fans should probably be excited for a new project, potentially a TV show, to be announced before long.Grand Theft Autofansshould probably maintain healthy expectations and assume 50 Cent’s teases are unrelated to video games, at least until more information is shared.Grand Theft Auto 6news will arrive eventually, with or without 50 Cent.
