Summary
Despite the argument from those outside theCall of Dutybubble that every game in the series is the same, changes regularly happen from title to title. The modern games may all utilize the same seasonal format andWarzonefocus, but in terms of gameplay, those hopping ontoBlack Ops Cold Warwill experience something that feels significantly different fromVanguardorCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Whether it be Treyarch, Sledgehammer, or Infinity Ward, each developer likes to innovate in its own way and regularly abandons concepts from the previous game in favor of introducing its own ideas. However, withCall of Duty2024, Treyarch should make sure that it keeps a handful ofModern Warfare 3features, as they would work in everyCoDgame.
Modern Warfare 3’s Fast Movement
Following complaints aboutCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s slow and methodical gameplaystyle, as many felt that its tactical approach to combat encouraged camping,MW3served as the welcome return of fast-pacedCoDgameplay. InCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Operators move quickly and can easily chain traversal tactics together to zoom across the map, with mechanics like slide canceling allowing players to get a one-up on campers.Call of Duty2024 should encourage players to master movement to get a leg up on their opponents.
Call of Duty2024 should also include both dolphin diving and sliding, like the two most recentModern Warfaretitles. Not only does this allow for more strategic gameplay, but having diving would allow the classic version ofPhD Flopperto stick around.

Modern Warfare 3’s Tactical Aim Feature
One of the most useful innovations inModern Warfare 3is Tactical Aim, and given how well it works, it should be present ineveryCall of Dutygamegoing forward. With a simple press of the D-pad, players can turn their gun on its side for a more accurate version of the usual hipfire mechanic. Putting in this extra effort can make a huge difference, as it gives players a fighting chance in close quarters scenarios, even if they happen to be using a big weapon with a bulky scope. It also looks great and strengthensMW3’s sense of realism.
Modern Warfare 3’s High Time to Kill
While TTK will always be a matter of personal preference, many seem to enjoy the higher time-to-kill inModern Warfare 3, even if its inconsistency has been pointed to as a problem. The first two games in theModern Warfarereboot had extremely fast time-to-kills, which rewarded quick reaction time and camping as opposed to gun skill. WhileCall of Duty2024 does not need to bring back the healing mechanic from2018’sBlack Ops 4and that game’s extremely long time-to-kills, something closer toMW3thanMW2would be ideal, as having proper gunfights again has been a nice change of pace.
Modern Warfare 3’s Classic Mini-Map
Considering thatTreyarchwas the first developer to bring back the classic mini-map after it was removed inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare2019, it can safely be assumed that it will be present inCall of Duty2024. Still, it is worth mentioning given how unpopular Infinity Ward’s compass has been with the franchise’s fan base, and how celebrated the mini map has been both times it has returned. A true case of “if it isn’t broken, do not fix it,” a traditional mini-map with red dots for enemies and arrows for allies should be a no-brainer. Additionally, unsuppressed weapons should cause players to briefly appear on the mini-map.
Modern Warfare 3’s Map Voting
Last but certainly not least,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s map votingis something that deserves to stick around for good. After a hiatus following the release ofBlack Ops Cold War, fans have celebrated the option to vote for their favorite maps prior to entering a match. While this does see certain locations being played a lot more than others, and some maps do end up being avoided by the community, most fans like having some control over where they do their fighting.
