Pokemon Legends: Arceusrecently released for Nintendo Switch, allowing longtime fans of the series to explore a vast, open-world setting. The game, which many fans are calling a breath of fresh air for the franchise, takes place in the Hisui region, a long-ago version of the Sinnoh region ofPokemon’s fourth generation.

Exploring the region and playing through the main story expands upon the history of the Sinnoh region. The game also updates previously-unexplained lore of the Pokemon universe, such as how Pokeballs work. These are a few regions that would be a blast to explore in future titles with the gameplay introduced inPokemon Legends: Arceus, should additionalPokemon Legendstitles appear in the future.
10Medieval England
The previous Nintendo Switch titles,Pokemon Sword & Shield, are set in the Galar region. Galar is based on areas of the United Kingdom, mainly England, Wales, and Scotland. These three countries have rich histories for Game Freak to adapt. There’s even potential full-on Pokemon wars, resembling the Crusades or the War of the Roses.
Furthermore, getting to travel around this region could be reminiscent to players familiar with traversingSkyrim’s open world. The only downside is that a medieval-England setting could result in a fairly grittyPokemongame, although Game Freak could always take the Arthurian route and keep it mythical. Just imagine getting to wield a Honedge in a region like this!

9French Revolution
Speaking of grittier settings for futurePokemongames, the Kalos region could also feature in a futurePokemon Legendsgame. This France-inspired region originally appeared inPokemon X & Y.It also introduced Mega Evolution, which could make a welcome return in this new installment.
It would be interesting to explore a fictionalized, Pokemon-world version of a certain period in France’s history: the French Revolution. While the French Revolution has inspired many dark stories likeLes MiserablesandA Tale of Two Cities, it’s nevertheless a fascinating period of history to base aPokemongame on. There’s also bound to be a snotty, Napoleon-esque figure leading the charge.

8American Revolution
If the French Revolution can work in aPokemongame, it’s easy to see how the American Revolution could be developed, too. ThisPokemon Legendsgame could take place in a historical version of Unova, the New York-inspired region fromPokemon Black & White. This hypothetical installment could combine the best elements ofPokemon Legends: ArceuswithAssassin’s Creed 3.

Like the previous two regions mentioned, the American Revolution could be a dark, war-heavy setting forPokemon Legends: Arceus’s follow-up. It would be easy to imagine Revolution-era regional forms for Pokemon like Braviary, Lapras, and Smeargle. There would also be a lot of great options for character outfits.
7Modern-Day Unova
If Revolution-era Unova isn’t an ideal choice for Game Freak, perhaps it would be interesting to see the nextPokemon Legendsgame take on a more modern-day setting. Perhaps remakingPokemon Black & WhiteasPokemon Legends: BlackandPokemon Legends: Whitewould bean interesting follow-up to the ancient aesthetics of the Hisui region.
Adapting a completely open-world Unova would certainly be a challenge for Game Freak, having to trade the Hisui region’s expansive terrain for maze-like cities and bridges. It would be a vastly different experience, but possibly one worth exploring. IfSuper Mario Odysseycould do it, why notPokemon?

6New Wild West-Inspired Region
Of course, it’s possible to spend all day listing already-existing Pokemon regions to explore in future titles. However, most fans would agree that it would be most exciting to seePokemon Legends: Arceus’s innovations to the seriesimplemented in brand new regions. One idea that would fit the game’s open-world aspect is a region based on America’s Wild West.
Getting to explore a continuous,Red Dead Redemption-stylePokemonregion would be a very different angle for the series following the ancient Hisui region. It would be fascinating to see the new types of Pokemon to be discovered in this region. The most important one, however, would have to be a new horse Pokemon that players could ride for miles.

5New Australia-Inspired Region
Similar to Wild West America, Australia would be another great choice for aPokemon Legendsgame set in a brand-new region. This would trade the American frontier for the Australian Outback, which would certainly fitPokemon Legends’open-world design.

There is lots of potential for new Pokemon in a region based on Australia, including those based on emus, kiwis, dolphins, and other Australian animals. It could also be an opportunity to see new regional forms of previous Pokemon, like Komala, Kangaskhan, and Heliolisk. There’s a lot of potential for variety in an Australia-inspired region, especially if Game Freak is interested in expanding onPokemon Legends: Arceus’s nature-focused aspects.
4New Ancient Greece-Inspired Region
One of the things that makesPokemon Legends: Arceusunique is getting to explore a region that feels ancient and undeveloped, rather than the urban settings the franchise has been known for. A new region based on Ancient Greece would be a perfect way to keep those ancient exploration elements in a brand-new region.
Obviously, Ancient Greece could provide a lot to a newPokemongame, including new Pokemon, mythology, and even regional landmarks. It would also make for some interesting regional forms, like a Spartan warrior-inspired Hawlucha, or a Manticore-inspired Pyroar. And of course, the Legendary Pokemon are guaranteed to be the coolest the series has had so far.

3New Scandinavia-Inspired Region
Another potential new region for a futurePokemon Legendsgame could be based off of Scandinavia, giving way for a Viking-inspired adventure. Whereas Hisui is very land-based, with one area in particular revolving around sea travel, this Scandinavia-based region would be mostly sea-based, similar to the Hoenn region.
Viking history also has a rich mythology to be explored in a game likePokemon Legends.Players could possibly travel between the Pokemon world, and an Asgard-based realmthat’s home to Legendary and Mythical Pokemon. This type of region could be a good combination of previously-mentioned war-based regions, as well as the exploration of Ancient Greek or Australian regions.

2Open-World Alola
Perhaps a brand-new region isn’t necessary for Game Freak to incorporate a sea-based open world into the nextPokemon Legendsinstallment. InPokemon Sun & Moon’s Alola region, players already traversed between several varying islands. APokemon Legendsinterpretation of Alola could see players spending more time on the open ocean.

A good way to switch things up could be to create a world to explore under the ocean’s surface. Incorporating elements of the myths of Atlantis could fit beautifully into thePokemon Legendsaesthetic, while also adding new depth to the Alola region’s history and mythology.
1Open-World Kanto
Though the originalPokemontitles have been remade and reissued a countless number of times, longtime fans will never get tired of seeing the familiar Kanto region re-imagined. WhileLet’s Go, PikachuandLet’s Go, Eeveealready adapted Kanto for Nintendo Switch, aPokemon Legendstake on the region would be vastly different.
Essentially, fans could freely roam through Kanto as one continuous region, which would expand uponPokemon Legends: Arceus. This would be the perfect way to sell nostalgic fans on the concept ofPokemon Legends, if they aren’t already having a blast exploring Hisui.
