There have been Pokémon memes ever sincePokémonRedandBluefirst arrived, and now with the arrival ofPokémon SwordandShield; these memes have become a lot more elaborate. There are now hundreds of hilarious memes waiting to be found.

Since this time, the region ofPokémon SwordandShieldis set in Galar, aka Great Britain, a lot of memes are based on English or Scottish stereotypes, which can be pretty hilarious. The Pokémon fandom is absolutely massive, and the fans have held nothing back when it comes to creating such memes.
10Not Common Smog
This meme is the perfect example of exploiting British stereotypes inPokémon SwordandShield. We’re not going to lie, this Galarian Wheezing meme is beyond excellent. It captures the heart of the stereotypical British upper-class image; the posh monocle-wearing folk from England, with their waistcoats, finely trimmed mustaches, and overly tall hats.
We imagine this Pokémon saying words like poppycock, and oh gosh darn it. We all know if Galarian Wheezing could speak, he would have an upper-class English accent and be a considerable bumbler to boot.
9A Dedicated Pokémon
Hattenre is the fully evolved form of a new Pokémon inSwordandShieldcalled Hatenna. Now Hatenna, like a lot of evolution of Pokémon, looks pretty cute and dopey, but oh boy, does Hattenre change all that.
In thePokémon SwordPokédex for Hattenre, it states, “This Pokémon can read the emotions of creatures over 30 miles away. The minute it senses hostility, it goes on the attack.” Now that is one very driven dedicated Pokémon, as that’s going to be a 24-hour job, keeping gamer rage at bay.
8Is The Food Poisoned?
Camping is a big mechanic inPokémon SwordandShield, as it allows the player to bond with their Pokémon. As you camp, the six Pokémon equipped will wander about the field, and by interacting with them, and this raises the friendship levels between the trainer and Pokémon, it’s cute. Unless all you have is six Mr. Mimes…

Cooking curry is a great way to raise affections, as well as gain some Pokémon experience points. It also helps to complete that Curry dex. After the meal has cooked, the lead Pokémon and the trainer are seen eating the food, however, with certain Pokémon, it looks very ominous indeed.
7Soccer Bunny
One of thenew starters in Pokémonis an adorable little animal called Scorbunny, but he’s got a quite a Darkside, as this Pokémon is all about the kicks. Scorbunny would make one hell of a soccer player, but if he uses his special move Pyro Ball (which has an awesome unique kicking animation,) there might be quite a few casualties on the pitch, as well as everything being on fire.
During camp, as you’re playing with Scorbunny, you think it’s going to be a fun, and enjoyable time, as it’s small and cuddly. But in reality, all Scorbunny truly does is kick you in the face, repeatedly.
6It’s me Sirfetch’d!
When Sirfetch’d got shown off to the world, its popularity exploded overnight and no wonder, he’s absolutely awesome and fits the very Britsh theme of noble knights perfectly. A stoic Pokémon equipped with lance and shield, sadly there’s no monocle, but there are some genuinely tremendous memes out there for Sirfetch’d.

However, have you ever envisioned Sirfetch’d as well someone else, say not from the Pokémon universe? For example, how about Sephiroth fromFinal Fantasy 7?Or what about DIO from hit animeJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure? These villains all make sense if Sirfetch’d was behind them the reigns.
5Ah What Colorful Language
The Galar region is based on an upside-down version of Great Britain, so this means you start your Pokémon journey in Scotland, the land of the stereotypical colorful but hard to understand language.
If all of Postwick, the starting town ofPokémon Sword and Shield,and the next village Wedgehurst spoke with the stereotypical Scottish accent, then 95% of the world would not understand anything that was being said, whatsoever.
However, the amount of Scottish meme’s flooding the internet is hilariously crazy, and a lot of them nail the stereotype remarkably well.
4Surprise Trading with Satan
Surprise trading is a wonderful addition toPokémonSwordandShield, because who doesn’t love the mystery of what Pokémon could arrive? Especially now, since the game as been out a few months, anyone new, just starting the game, could send off a level 5 Skwovet and receive in return a perfect IV’d Charmander in its place. That’s a mighty excellent trade-off.

However, everything is a surprise, including whoever the Pokémon is going to, so you could be damning these traded Pokémon to living in hell and in misery for all eternity.
3Master Chief The Pokémon Trainer
Some numbers can hold precise hidden meanings to some people; other times, it could just be their favorite lucky number. Some even hold meanings to the games or films we play, such asJames Bond 007or another prime example being theHaloseries main characterMaster Chief Petty Officer John-117.
This is relevant because, inPokémonSwordandShield, players can choose the combination of three numbers to put on their league uniform, so it goes from being a trainer with a generic number to becoming Master Chief 117 Pokémon league challenger.
2Gunther, The Gun descendant!
The post-game story ofPokémonSwordandShieldcan get a bit weird, as the arrival of Sordward and Shielbert come into the game. These two funny haired oddballs claim to be the descendants of the legendary Kings back from the tale of the Darkest Day.
Now Game Freak is fond of releasing a third version of games in the Pokémon series, an example beingPokémonEmerald, which is more or less an enhanced version ofRubyandSapphirebut combined. Therefore, forPokémonSwordandShield, there is only one alternative, which is Pokémon Gun. So welcome the third descendant Gunther!
1Gyms or Wild Area? That’s A Hard Choice?
This meme could not be more accurate if it tried. The first gym is the goal on your Pokémon journey to become champion. The first step of beating everyone to the top. The horizon is in sight of obtaining the goal of knocking down reigning champion Leon and becoming theGalarPokémon League Champion!
Yet instead, Pokémon trainers are spending hours upon hours in the wild area before the first town, and exploring and capturing all the Pokémon they can find, and then doing it again to see what ones haven’t been caught yet.
